I haven’t been on any diet for about 3 weeks so it definitely was a challenge to stick to it today. I have 29 more days to meet my goal (see my Goals Blog).  I rode the elliptical for 22 minutes, burning 200 calories. I then did bicep curls, hammer curls, shoulder presses, and rear delts. 15 pounds. 3 sets of 8 reps each. I had to stop, I’m still trying to take it easy on account my side strain. Overall I don’t think I did too bad.

8/5/15- Supplements

Just wanted to add that I do take supplements. I take 1 Centrum Active, 1-100mg COQ10, and 2,000mg of fish oil, every morning. That’s it.

Otherwise my side pain is a bit better today. I took it easy again today. What I don’t like is that I can’t eat nearly as much since I can’t work out. It’s very important to keep that calorie deficit so I don’t gain fat. Although I know that I’m losing muscle every day that I don’t lift. I just need to get back to it as soon as it doesn’t hurt to do so.

8/4/15- Pain in my side
This pain in my side, I did some Googling and found that it’s most likely a strain of the internal or external oblique. I don’t know how or when I even did it, I just know that Sunday morning it was hurting. It was just a dull achy pain, but then I worked out Sunday and Monday, now today I can barely move without a sharp pain. Its definitely debilitating. The recommended treatment is protection, rest, ice, and elevation. So my husband set me up on the couch with Netflix and demanded that I rest and no working out. I’m kinda perturbed by it all. Yesterday I was able to work through the pain. Today I wince with very small movement. It sucks! I wanna workout dangit!

Says it could take 4-6 weeks to heal completely. Waah!

bruchetta

8/3/15-No Appreciation or I expect too much?

Okay so I had/still have a shit ton of basil and tomatoes from my garden that I didn’t know what to do with. So I searched recipes and came up with this one http://italian.food.com/recipe/fresh-roma-tomato-basil-oregano-bruschetta-104362

Tonight for dinner I spent almost 2 hours chopping all the stuff up for the bruschetta, grilled and barbequed pork chops, chicken, and corn on the cob and made a salad. I served it all up with no help. Everyone ate the dinner but I kept waiting for Mmmm’s, or wow, great job!, or dinner is great, or something. I usually don’t do the cooking and I felt like I put a lot of time and effort into this dinner. I even brined the meat ahead of time so it would be moister. I didn’t burn anything and I thought it all tasted great. I kept wondering if they didn’t like it and should I ask them if it was okay, but I didn’t. I even cleaned up all the mess and still didn’t get a thanks or a compliment. I found this to be odd especially since I always compliment the chef (my husband) and let him know I appreciate all the hard work that he put into it. Am I being silly? Maybe I wont be putting so much effort into the next dinner I make.

I worked out before making dinner, shoulders, bike, and tried to do abs. I’ve been having this really bad pain in my left side right below my ribcage for 2 days now. I’m sure it’s just a muscle but it hurts to bend over or stretch my abs in any way. Hopefully it will go away soon because its trying to limit my workouts.

8/2/15- vacation

Returned from Gatlinburg yesterday. My husband and I took my son who is home on leave from the Marines. It was great because my husband doesn’t really like to leave the hotel room unless its to eat. So I had my son to walk the strip with, we also went river tubing and to the aquarium, we went up the mountain in the chairlift and walked the strip shopping again. Now, I know he probably would rather be hang in with friends and picking up chicks, but instead he was cool hanging with his mom. I’m so thankful he was there. I enjoyed the time we had together. By the way that was the first time I ever went river tubing and it was the best experiences I’ve had.

6/21/15- Recovering from last nights party. Feeling rough but did go grocery shopping. Going to do the 5 day clean eating diet starting tomorrow. Was thinking about working out. Is it not a good idea to work out the day after a drinking binge?

6/20/15- Too much to drink

All I can say is I drank too too much. After working for 12 hours, I met up with some coworkers for a graduation party. One of our nurses graduated from CNP school and we were celebrating. We got a party bus! Let’s just say that party busses aren’t just for the young folk. There were 10 of us and we polished off 97 jello shots, a bottle of 41, fire water and several other bottles of stuff that I couldn’t even remember. Plus all the drinks at all the bars we stopped at. Then my friend and I got a ride to the casino…I don’t remember much of that. We Ubered our way home @ 3:45 am. It was crazy, all girls, and our oldest was 55. She was probably the best drinker of all of us.
Somehow I didn’t get sick. I am not even a drinker. Occasionally a glass of wine or a beer.
My whole week of good eating and working out wasted???

6/19/15- All of the positive comments

At work today, I saw quite a few people that haven’t seen me in awhile. Atleast 6 people told me how good I looked. Comments and questions about my weight loss and what I was doing to be in such good shape. As always, I tell them diet and exercise. Some want to know more, some don’t. It’s not that I don’t want to help people, because I do, especially if someone is serious about losing weight. But I don’t want to start telling people everything I do for myself, because it may not be what’s right for them. Also, I don’t like wasting my breath on people that think they care but really don’t.

Also, even though I have lost weight, when I look in the mirror, I still see a lot of fat on my butt and thighs, that I have been diligently working on. It just doesn’t seem to want to leave no matter how hard I work. Most people can’t see it because I’m tall and my loose uniform pants kinda hide it. So when I say, I’m still working on it. Most people say things like, “Oh, I think you’ve lost enough. You don’t need to lose any more weight.”

Obviously, they don’t get it. And then trying to explain the whole fat versus muscle and how I’m just trying to get rid of the fat talk begins to confuse them or bore them. It’s not really weight, I’m trying to lose, it’s fat, the fat that is hidden under my clothes.

Another thing that came to mind is, if I look so good now….I must have been hideous a year ago. FAT ASS UGLY or something.

It’s nice that people notice and they tell you, but it kinda gets old…kinda. I’m just not so sure how I feel about it. Anyone have thoughts?

6/18/15-Today’s challenge-WORMS eating my kale!!!

cabbage-worm

I get home from work early today around 4:30. I go outside to check on my vegetable garden, I wanted to make sure it didn’t drown from all the rain yesterday. It was actually looking real good. I was happy with it. Everything was growing real nice. It was sunny and hot most of the day and now here comes another storm. I cook some dinner. Chicken tenders, baked zucchini parmesan, and cottage cheese. I watch a little TV and decide to check on my garden again. Only 3 hours passed and I look at my kale…HOLY CRAP!!! It’s been eaten like almost all my kale is eaten down to the stems. I start freaking out, wondering if a rabbit somehow got in there…there’s no way!! So, I look closer…then I see them, these freaking green worms…allover my kale and my broccoli. I start picking the bastards off and kill them. It was like that last storm just rained freaking worms into my garden. I look them up on google and find they are called cabbage worms. The internet says once they hatch, they take over and eat all of your greens. They come from white moths. It says to get this dust with DB?? It is supposed to be the most organic of pesticides. Dammit, I did not want to have to use pesticides at all on my garden. I was pissed and freaking out. I make my husband take me to Home Depot, and guess what? They don’t have the recommended powder. So, I get Sevindust instead…NOT HAPPY!! Of course once I get home, I’m ready to powder the worms to death but it’s raining again.

Well, I decide to workout and powder after. My workout tonight was shoulders and abs. It consisted of upright presses, Rear delt raises, upright rows, side and front raises. I did 10 reps of all 5 exercises in a row, rested for a minute then repeated 5 times….ouch! I did my abs, drank my protein shake, then I went right out to the garden and powdered the crap out of what was left of my kale and broccoli. I did find another worm…I killed him! Hopefully the Sevin dust will work, cause I really wanted to eat my Kale eventually.

6/17/15 Today’s challenge-rain

It rained and rained and rained all day. It is my day off and I felt like doing nothing, so that’s what I did. I sat on the couch most of the day and started my blog page. Then I finally got off my butt ate some shrimp scampi, green beans, and a sweet potato. An hour later I worked out. I did something different than usual with my back and biceps. Something a little like supersets. I started with bicep curls, then bent over rows, then hammer curls, then deadlifts. I started with 10 reps and went down 9 then 8, all the way to 1. I didn’t rest between sets, only about a minute between each circuit.
I have to say it was quite the workout, it went fast and I was sweating my butt off. After that I did concentration curls and crossovers. I did 10 of each 3 times. Then I did lunges, squats, leg curls, leg lifts, and calf raises. I felt much better about doing nothing the rest of the day.
