Birthday and Getting back on track

Today is the day before my birthday, also the day before the last day of the year. Tomorrow I will be 44 years old. Unfortunately, I will be working. It’s nothing new though. When you are a nurse you get to work the holidays. I worked Christmas Eve and Christmas day. It’s not a big deal for me, but it’s hard for my family to understand and they don’t like me having to work. But I realize that there are sick people even on the holidays. I am blessed to have my job and be working. I could be one of those sick people in the hospital bed. Or it could be one of my family members. Being thankful helps me get through the workday, whether it’s a holiday, or my birthday, or some other special day.

Aside from that I hope everyone had a great Christmas and my blessings for a Happy New Year. I hope that wellness is with you all, there’s nothing more depressing than being sick or injured during the holidays…or any other day for that matter.

     As for me, I’m trying very hard to get back on track. My last post was depressing and I am actually making an effort to get back in the swing. I have 10+ pounds to lose, but I’m just concentrating on 10 for now. It could take 10 weeks or 5 weeks depending on how hard I try. I started logging my calories on My Fitness Pal again, boy is that a wakeup call. I am definitely still eating too much. I don’t know why I find it so difficult to stop eating sweets. But when I add them into the count, I know I gotta quit the sugar or It will never work.  I also have been making myself workout. I went to the gym twice this week and walk/ran on the treadmill and did weights. I used the Spin bike the other 2 days. I gotta gotta gotta keep it up! I can’t keep going backwards.

By the way, I’m still getting therapy and traction for my back and being very careful not to reinjure it. It still aches most days, but I get through it. If it hurts real bad… Ibuprofen, heat, Flexeril, and the floor are my friends.
